Academic Support and Disability Services

Our Goal is to help you become a successful, independent learner. The Student Success Team is available to assist students in the development of an academic plan that will maximize their potential for success through the use of specialized resources. The Team provides resources for Academic Assistance, Counseling, Academic Accommodations, and Assessment Testing.

Some of the ways we meet our goal include:

  • Equip the incoming student with tools that promote success by assisting students in developing study habits and positive attitudes to ensure academic success;
  • Assisting students who are at risk of failing a course;
  • Assisting students who desire to improve their overall grade point average;
  • Increasing retention and graduation rates of all students.

504 Academic Accommodations

Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science is respectful of students’ rights and responsibilities in accordance with the Americans with Disabilities Act of 1990 (ADA) as amended by the ADA Amendment Act of 2008 and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973. Any qualified student with a disability may request an accommodation to ensure that the academic program does not discriminate against or have the effect of discriminating against that student. The disability/disorder must not prohibit the student from meeting the course outcomes. To determine eligibility for academic accommodations, the College requires current and relevant documentation from a qualified professional with expertise in the area of the diagnosed disability/disorder that establishes a disability and its impact on the student and confirms the need for each accommodation requested.

The Academic Support Specialist is the designated 504 Coordinator for the College.

The Academic Support Specialist is dedicated to empowering students with disabilities through the delivery of accommodations and support services.

Students with disabilities who need academic accommodations or other specialized services while attending GSC will receive accommodations to meet their individual needs as well as advocacy assistance on disability-related issues. We are strongly committed to maintaining an environment that guarantees students with disabilities full access to educational programs, activities, and facilities.
