Grievance

It is the intent of Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science to treat its students in a fair and equitable manner. With appropriate, consistent, and considerate handling, problems can and should be resolved without undertaking a formal grievance. However, a formal grievance procedure --detailed in the Student Handbook--may be used to resolve problems.

Student Records

The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act of 1974 (FERPA), as amended, is a federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all educational institutions that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.

FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to the educational records of their child(ren). These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends an institution of higher education. Students to whom the rights have transferred are termed "eligible students."

Annual notification of FERPA is made via the Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science Student Handbook.

Educational records of the Good Samaritan College of Nursing and Health Science are maintained in the offices of the Registrar and Financial Aid, the Records Storage Room and on the computer system.

Detailed information is available from the U.S. Department of Education.
